Autumn Lookbook | LittleEllieMae

I absolutely love Autumn. Even though here in Britain its always a bit of a surprise to get those beautifully crisp Autumn days we all dream of, I always cherish them when they come along.

Autumn is the season where comfy sweaters begin to reappear but its still acceptable to wear cute dresses without freezing- my favourite!

Today I'm going to show you five of my favourite Autumnal outfits!

Dress- H&M
Jacket- Peacocks
Boots- River Island

Gem stone colours are my favourite during this season. This emerald green lace dress is perfect to dress up or down for every day use. I also love my leather look jacket which I wear so much! It easily smartens up a jeans and t-shirt look or, as done so here, with a cute dress.

Collared top- Topshop
Jumper- NEXT
Jeans- Topshop
Shoes- Primark
Bag- H! By Henry Holland

This is my favourite look to wear to school during the chilly Autumn months. Layering clothes is a great way to stay warm and also adds amazing textures to an outfit. Here I have layered a jumper over a thin sleeveless collared shirt to create this contrasting collar look! Tan is a great neutral colour to add to different autumnal outfits as it matches with pretty much everything- here I have tan boots and my trusty tan satchel bag.

T-shirt- Primark
Trousers- M&S Limited Collection
Boots- Topshop
Hat- Primark

Although days of sunshine and crisp air may be few in England during Autumn, this outfit is great for then! These metallic, silky trousers are a huge risk for me as they're quite bold (which usually scares me) but I love these trousers so much and I've finally got the confidence to style them! I think that this outfit is chic yet smart; perfect for a day of shopping!

Jumper- H! By Henry Holland
Jeans- Topshop
Scarf- H! By Henry Holland
Shoes- Primark
Hat- Primark
Bag- Accessorize

Other colours that I adore during Autumn are berry tones: burgundy, purples, crimsons... the lot of them! I love the different textures in this jumper because of the variation in knits. The print in my scarf is adorable- little foxes. For some reason, in Autumn I become addicted to cute animal prints... foxes, owls and fawns in particular. My bag was only £5 from Accessorize as it was broken but we fixed it so easily... so this super inexpensive bag (with a deer decoration and in my favourite emerald colour- bonus!) finishes this look perfectly!

Dress- Primark
Hat- H&M
Boots- River Island

Maybe this outfit doesn't scream Autumn when you first look at it but its perfect for days where you want to easily look smart. And with a pop of colour of the bright red collar, which I paired with a matching red lip, it makes the look very interesting. I love the structured A-line skirt of this dress as its totally different to any other dress I already have.

#TeenBlogSeries - Week 8- Beauty Tips

Teen Bloggers Anouska Millar and Beth have decided to start a project called #TeenBlogSeries. Its aim is to bring together lots of the teens/young adults in the blogging community. For the next ten consecutive weeks, over 80 bloggers will be writing every Monday at 6:30pm about many different things, all beauty, lifestyle or fashion related. You can view everyones posts by going to the hashtag on twitter "TeenBlogSeries". If you would like to get involved email: anouskateenblogger@googlemail.com

We've all had our bad makeup/ skincare days so I'm really looking forward to this week to reading everyone else's blog posts to get some advice for myself too- but here are a few of my own beauty tips:

1.) Less is more- Being a teenager with spots and blemishes can be really frustrating and the first thing we go to do is pile as much foundation and concealer on our faces to try and minimise these imperfections. But there is nothing worse than a orange, cakey looking face so my advice would be to just use a little amount of product and just focus on the points of your face where the blemishes are. Using a good makeup brush to really buff in the product can make a huge difference too and make the makeup look appear a lot more natural but still covering up what you need covered!

2.) Don't over-pluck your eyebrows!- one of the things I regret the most (beauty wise) is totally over plucking my eyebrows when I was a pre-teen. You can see how my eyebrows used to be and my current eyebrow routine here. With people like Cara Delevingne bracing the limelight with her beautiful natural, bushy eyebrows it shows that our natural brows really are best. Of course a bit of grooming here and there is needed, just don't go over board!

3.) Make sure to cleanse and look after your skin well- To look good with makeup on, it really does begin with the basics. Make sure to fully cleanse, tone and moisturise every morning and evening and of course make sure that you take off all of your makeup before you go to bed as this can clog up your pores and leave your skin dirty and dull. I like to exfoliate my skin once or twice a week which always brightens my face and creates a lovely smooth base for makeup. You can check out my skincare routine here!

4.) This is kind of a random one, but there is nothing as annoying as applying perfect lipstick then after 10 minutes finding its all over your teeth! I learnt this trick from Sam and Nic and Pixiwoo a few years back and it works every time: after applying your lipstick, put your finger between your lips and pull it back out again (sounds weird but just try it!)... this way the lipstick on the inner side of your lips comes off a bit and prevents any teeth/lipstick mishaps!

5.) Primer will be your best friend- Its only been in the last year that I've actually started using primer for a base for my makeup but I've noticed that it makes such a difference! As someone who suffers with dry skin, a skin primer evens out my skin tone and creates a lovely smooth base for my makeup. For a skin primer I love using the Benefit Porefessional, No7 Airbrush Away Primer and the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer! I also love to use an eyeshadow primer, as putting powder eyeshadows directly on my eyelids always irritates my skin so I use my Makeup Revolution Focus and Fix Eye Primer which creates a great base and doesn't irritate my eyes. Primers also improve the wear of your makeup so its perfect to last a whole day of school, especially in these rainy autumn months!

So there are a few beauty tips from me... I'd love to hear some from you too! Make sure to comment below or tweet me @LittleEllieMae :)

#TeenBlogSeries- Week 7- Balancing Blogging with School

Teen Bloggers Anouska Millar and Beth have decided to start a project called #TeenBlogSeries. Its aim is to bring together lots of the teens/young adults in the blogging community. For the next ten consecutive weeks, over 80 bloggers will be writing every Monday at 6:30pm about many different things, all beauty, lifestyle or fashion related. Deciding that I wanted to take up blogging was one of the best decisions I made but being a teenager at high school, it can be really hard to manage time to get everything done.

Over the summer (2014), I had three months off school after my GCSE exams which was great and you can see on my blog that I put so much time and effort into posting more regularly, with better content and a nicer blog layout.

However, before that I had a year of GCSEs where I worked non- stop and I found it really hard to keep up with everything; writing posts, revising, replying to comments, homework, participating in blog chats, extra curricular activities- it all became a bit too much for me.
I had to sit down and prioritise what I needed to do. And of course, my education had to come before blogging if I wanted to do well in my exams (which I did!)

So, my blog posts became less regular and my YouTube channel stopped all together.

I prioritised my studying and any spare time I had, I sat down and wrote a blog post.

However, because my brain was so occupied with how electricity travels through transformers and how Harper Lee portrayed Tom Robinson, my ideas for blog posts totally came to a halt. I would sit at my desk with ten minutes spare to write a post but no ideas would come to mind.

I know that writers block is very common for lots of bloggers so my advice would be to just take a step back and take the pressure off yourself for a while. I stopped blogging for a few weeks and wrote a lists of ideas that came to mind when I was randomly lying in bed or making dinner. This way I was less worried about posting regularly and my allowed my creative juices to flow again.

I think the main tip to balance blogging with school is to prioritise the right things and make sure that blogging stays as a fun hobby (or job!), as there is nothing worse than losing passion for something.
