What I Got For Christmas 2013

Hey guys, I'm back! It was quite nice to have a little break from blogging but now I have returned for the new year with lots of new ideas.

I hope that you all had a lovely christmas! Mine was relaxing but very nice.

I've loved reading people's blog posts on what they got for christmas so I decided that it was time to write my own!

*I am in no way bragging or showing off in this post. I am extremely grateful and happy with all the gifts I received and I am very lucky so thank you!*

A few weeks ago I upgraded my old samsung mobile phone to an IPhone (4S) which was an early christmas present from my Mum! I love my IPhone so much, its so useful! Oh and she got me this adorable phone case for it too!

The book on the left is a notebook which is really handy for me to write my blog ideas in! I also received a book called Take a Look at Me Now by Miranda Dickinson from my mum which looks really good! Also it says on the top 'The Sunday Times Bestseller' which makes me laugh because I'm always going on about how I helped to sort out The Sunday Times books for review on work experience! This book also came with a really good lip-balm, strange but cool, haha! One of my favourite gifts that I received was this special edition hardback of Pride and Prejudice; It is so beautiful and very precious. I can't wait to start reading it!

I got this lovely lipbalm set from Bodyshop which is displayed in this lovely lollipop packaging! Love it! I also got this BIG makeup bag which my mum filled with little things like a new hairbrush and hair accessories and bits :)

I got these bits and pieces too: A photo album from my little sister, Flora. A new momiji doll (christmas special edition! I have a collection of these which I will share with you in the near future!). An alarm clock which is obviously a hint from my Mum to get me out of bed in the mornings!? This cute owl print clutch to hold my IPhone and cards in which is really handy to carry around on days that I don't want to lug a bag around with me! And some lovely lip products!

I received this g o r g e o u s coat (from Peacocks) from my grandparents! I love it so much and it is possibly my favourite gift that I got this christmas! Its so comfy and its nice to have a smarter coat instead of my scruffy everyday one.

I also got these lovely clothes! My tutu skirt is from Topshop and my roller neck top is from M&S! I love them so much. (Okay I love everything).

This lovely jumper is from New Look! (although there is one very similar in Primark too).

I did get other little bits and bobs like jewellery, hot water bottles, socks but I haven't got round to taking photos of these yet- sorry!

I had such a great christmas and I'm so grateful for all the lovely gifts that I received!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Hi every one!

I have a (very rare) spare 5 minuets to quickly write an apologetic post.

I'm sorry that my Blogmas attempt failed miserably... It kind of flopped at Day 6 which is terrible, I know, I feel like a rubbish blogger! But my school work is literally piling up to the sky right now with controlled assessments, exams, deadlines- you name it! I'm feeling quite stressy and in need of a holiday off school for sure. With 13 subjects and a school which expects you to get A* in every single one, is quite difficult at times haha!

Anyway, I don't want to make excuses, but I have decided (after some great advice from other bloggers on #fblchat) to stop Blogmas and to take a break from blogging for a little while whilst I finish school for Christmas. School is after all (apparently) more important than blogging.

It won't be too long of a break, so don't worry- I will be back infesting your feed again soon :)

Thanks for understanding, you guys are the best!

P.S. Thanks for getting me over 3,000 page views!

Day 5- Elf

Elf is hands down my favourite christmas film of all time. ever. evererer. It is a tradition in my house to watch it on the 1st December whilst we put the tree and decorations up.

I'm pretty sure that I know most of the words off by heart, and I still cry with laughter every single time i see the scene where Buddy gets stuck on the escalator.

Oh and who on earth knew that Zooey Deschanel played Jovie?!?!?!?! Well I didn't know until I was told last week...oh.

Anyway, I just felt the need to rave about this amazing film and it really is something I look forward to watching every year. It never gets old.

What is your favourite christmas movie? Let me know by leaving a comment below or drop me a tweet @LittleEllieMae

Santa! Oh my god! Santa's coming! I know him! I know him!

Day 4- Winter Days

The days are darker, colder and wetter. The heating is up on full and the fire is roaring. It must be that time of year again- Winter.

I actually really do like winter:

"my love"... my dog.

Especially these weeks leading up to christmas, I love spending time with my family in our room called "The Snug" which is basically the ex-dining room which we had knocked through to our living room (maybe I will do a room tour, because my Mum has made it into a truly beautiful room). The Snug consists of a real fireplace, a sofa and patchwork quilt, a full bookshelf and a very comfy mat. So it is just what it says on the tin- very snug. Its nice to sit in there, without any electronics- no tv, no laptop, no phone and just talk and relax by the fire.

Aah, actually I might go down there after I've finished writing this and have a cuppa tea and read To Kill A Mockingbird.

Stay snug!

Day 3- Christmas Pictures

Today I feel very christmassy and whilst I was browsing through my Pinterest boards I was looking at some really sweet christmas pictures that I had pinned.

Aah, how adorable!

As you can see, my favourite kind of christmas picture is a vintage one. I think that the characters just look so much cuter and happier in vintage pictures like these in comparison to the modern stuff around nowadays. I just can't stop aawing and aahing over these pictures!

Now I've unleashed a bit of my vintage obsession on my blog now I will do a whole blog post about it in the near future..?

Hope you're having a merry day!

Day 2- Dear Santa...

Dear Santa...

I've been a really good girl this year and for Christmas i would really like:

A Pink Coat

Missguided- £34.99

I love pink coats at the moment, they are right on trend all through autumn, winter, spring and will even be a great summer staple! I especially love this dusty pink coloured coat from Missguided, what a great price too!

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I have lusted over Urban Decay's Naked Palettes for many years now. They're so pretty, with such a wide range of wearable yet interesting colours. I already know how much I adore Urban Decay eye shadows because I own the Naked Basics palette (which I LOVE!) so I know what great quality these palettes will be. I've only ever heard good things about these palettes (except maybe the exceptionally high price?) so I'd love to own one myself one day. Aah.

A New Blog Layout

If I'm honest, I'm not a fan of my current blog layout and theme. Its a bit over the top for me and I'm not too keen on the colours, but for now I'm making do. However, I'd really really like to sort out my blog by New Year- I want to find a new theme template to match my needs so if you have any ideas (not too expensive!) let me know!

Fish Eye Lens

I've always loved the effect of a fish eye lens, and I would really like to buy a lens for my camera one day (a girl can dream... £600, nah thanks!) but for now, now I have an iPhone I can capture moments with an iPhone Fish Eye Lens for under £10! I'd love to use this to experiment with my photography skills.

No not an engagement ring! I just really like special, dainty pieces of jewellery that I can cherish. I found this ring on Pinterest and instantly fell in love with it! I also love little quirky, unique pieces, Accessorize are very good for bits like that!

Phone case

As I mentioned a bit earlier, I now own an iPhone (hooray!) and I am on the search for a funky case. I really love quirky ones like this one pictured above from Urban Outfitters! Although I am also very drawn to the Disney princess phone cases too.....

My most cherished and memorable moments are just spending times with the people I love: my family and friends. My favourite kind of days are the ones where I can just be myself around these people and make some hilariously great memories with them- May it be spending a day out with my friends in the park, on a beach, just having a day inside watching movies together or going out with my family for a meal or just afternoon tea at my grandma's... It may sound cheesey but I'd love to have more of these days. I feel that our lives are so "busy" and we don't get as much chance to spend it with these special people.

I recently brought all five of my best friends a photoshoot session together at a local photography studio so that we can capture some moments together. I really can't wait.

Thanks Santa, I'll be sure to leave you a mince pie on Christmas Eve ;)

Day 1- Christmas Jumpers

Hello and welcome to LittleEllieMae's Christmas Advent Day 1!
Can we talk about christmas jumpers?

Yes, its December now (hooray!) so I'm allowing it.

Love them or loathe them, christmas jumpers basically take over every shop imaginable this time of year.
But I have to admit, I do LOVE a good, ugly christmas jumper!

They totally go against every fashion rule there is- from massively clashing prints and colours to pom poms and funny motifs.

Lets start with the home of christmas jumpers: Primark.

Oh Primark, you do put a festive smile on my face every time I walk into your shop. I'm planning to bag myself one of these jumpers this week, now it is December I am allowing myself- and at a super affordable price too!

Another firm christmas jumper favourite of mine is New Look. New Look really try to make the traditional jumper look... less gaudy, should I say. I love the pretty, dainty colours. They show that simple is definitely effective!

ASOS does it perfectly. The right amount of bagginess, gaudiness and festivity for me! I especially love the cropped jumper on the left, the bright colours are amazing!

I'm so excited to buy a christmas jumper.. which one do you think I should get? Let me know by commenting below or get in touch by tweeting me @LittleEllieMae

Happy 1st December!

LittleEllieMae Christmas Advent...?

Now, I have been extremely rubbish at posting on here lately which I am truly sorry about. School feels like its literally taking over my life and it sucks because I'd much rather be writing blog posts and editing YouTube videos if I'm completely honest but apparently that's not acceptable.

Anyway, to make up for the lack of blog posts I have come up with a brilliant (if I may say so myself) idea...

Every day of December leading up to Christmas I shall post on my blog. So that's 25 straight days of LittleEllieMae-ness to read!

It may be a review, a new YouTube video, a lifestyle update, OOTD or just a chatty random post- But I will try my very utmost hardest to post every day leading up to Christmas!

I'm really looking forward to doing this and I hope you are excited too!

So, starting on Sunday 1st December 2013... LittleEllieMae's Christmas Advent shall begin!

Merry Christmas

Blast From The Past- LittleEllieMae

I have lived through three decades, two centuries and two millenniums, and I'm only 16! I have spent the last two days filing through old photo albums and feeling very nostalgic, so today I'd like to share with you some of my photos from my life so far!

Lets start from the beginning:

I was a blue eyed, blonde haired, chubby baby! Mum took us for these little photo-shoots at places like Mothercare and I think those are my favourite kind of photos from my childhood- so cute (if I say so myself)!

Love this photo! I still have this rocking horse somewhere in our house, I think I will keep it for my children when I'm older; It was my favourite toy! Also, I see The Simpsons on the TV behind me which made me laugh because I used to love watching it when I was younger but now I really don't like it haha!

As you can see, my Mum loved dressing me and my sister, Flora, in the same outfits which is cute I suppose, despite the 2 and a half year age difference, although I'm not sure what she was thinking when she put us in those awful purple satin-y dresses! EW!

I was in love with this dress (and still am if i'm honest!). I clearly remember buying it in Debenhams for a friend's wedding and I wore it at every occasion I could afterwards! I was a very girly pink-obsessed girl... not much change there then!

Pinky pink pink pink! You may have noticed that I used to love jewelry of all sorts, especially those really long beaded necklaces that you can wrap around several times. Oh, and tiaras - I wanted to be a princess. Still do.

I always give my sister my hand-me-downs, as you can see, she gets landed with some pretty cool stuff (perks of having a cool big sister, eh?). My dress here was from Monsoon and it was one of my favourite dresses I have ever owned... I actually wish that it still fit me now! I feel as though this is around the kind of time I started to really become interested in fashion and how I looked, about 11 years old.

The start of my pose-y days...

This was my 12th birthday party, soon after I first started high school. My shirt was from H&M- I really like the colours but not 100% sure on the sparkles! Its not so clear from this photo, but I'm wearing bright purple liquid liner on my lids. My Grandma brought me my first piece of 'real' makeup a few months before this photo was taken and it happened to be the Urban Decay purple liquid liner- It wasn't until recently I realised what a great first makeup product I brought back in the day! Good choice 12 year old Ellie!

And that brings me to the present! I'm really happy with how I dress now- I feel confident with my style but I'm still learning and evolving!

It will be interesting to look back on this in a couple of years to see how I used to dress!

I really enjoyed writing this post, I hope you enjoyed reading it!

Have a nice day!

España - October 2013

Hey guys! As I mentioned in my last post, I jetted off to sunny Spain for a week with a group of 30 girls and 3 teachers from my school! The trip was run by my school for students studying Spanish at GCSE (which is what I'm doing); We arrived in Spain on 20th October and left on the 26th.

We stayed in a small town off the Costa Del Sol, 20 minutes away from Malaga called Benalmadena. Benalmadena is such a pretty place- with stunning beaches, a marina and lovely shops everywhere. We stayed in pairs (I was lucky enough to be partnered with my best friend, Becca) at a Spanish family's house. Our Spanish host family were so nice and very welcoming; I enjoyed socialising with them and learning new Spanish.

As this was an educational visit to improve our Spanish we attended a school for 12 hours over 4 days where we were refreshed with basic vocabulary, grammar and speaking skills by a native Spanish teacher (who talked to us the whole time in Spanish!!). It was a really interesting experience and I learnt so much.

Although this was an educational trip, we also got to travel to many different places to experience the Spanish culture.

We spent a day in Malaga where we visited various art galleries and museums, including the famous Picasso museum and shopped (I went straight for MANGO!).

We also went on a glass bottom boat which was really fun, although we didn't see any dolphins, as it was super sunny and hot so we took the chance to sunbathe on the deck.

We were let loose shopping in a huge shopping centre called Plaza Mayor near Malaga for an afternoon which was so fun and I brought some great stuff (which I will share with you all in a blog post coming soon!).

It was nice to just chill out at the beach some days with my classmates (and teachers), although we were not allowed to swim in the sea (health and safety arrrgghh) it was one of my highlights of the trip.

Other activities included a flamenco dancing lesson, sports activities, train rides and visiting the white wash villages.

I enjoyed the week so much; Although its wasn't my first time abroad without my family (I have been to Denmark on a school trip before too) it was definitely a trip to remember. It was great to spend time with my closest friends in a new exciting environment and I bonded with new people in my class too! I would definitely urge everyone to take up an opportunity to go abroad on a trip like this if you ever get the chance as it fills you with so much new confidence and knowledge of the world around you.

Oh, and the weather was wonderful too! ;)

Have a great week!

Hi everyone! Just a quick little post to say-

Hey. I am alive. I'm here.

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately! I had such bad writers block for a while, plus school is really weighing me down at the moment so its hard to get spare time to write :(

Anyway, I'm back! Although next week I am jetting off to Españaaaaaaa for a school trip so bare with me!

So, I want your ideas on blog posts that I can write! Is there any particular tags or topics you would like me to write about? Let me know by commenting below or tweeting me @LittleEllieMae :) I am thinking about doing some OOTDs and other little ideas for when I am in Spain and some Halloween posts so look forward to that!

Hope you are all well! Have a nice day,

My Sweet 16th Birthday Party

If you follow my Twitter you may already know that yesterday I celebrated my 16th birthday with a fancy dress house party!

I'd been planning this party for about two months, I wanted it to be really special. I appointed Becca, as 'party planner helper'- nothing better than having your best friend help plan your party right?! I knew from the start that I wanted a fancy dress party because I love to dress up and I knew that it would be such a laugh for us all. Together me and Becca decided to create a candy theme for the decorations, playing on the pun 'Sweet 16th'.

I wanted everything, from the decorations to food, to be as inexpensive as I could find.

We decorated my staircase with a sparkly pink garland and a candy cane decoration - I found them in a old Christmas decoration sale at a garden centre! So cute and girly, just how I like it!

I actually took this idea from Pintrest- I made a '16' shape out of my personal photos. My guests loved it as they could try and spot themselves in the photos and giggle at my baby photos!

Going along with the candy theme, my Mum kindly made these boiled sweet- like decorations! Its just a balloon wrapped in cellophane and tied at the ends to look like a sweet! How cool!

I may or may not have found a blow up palm tree in the cupboard beneath the stairs and just threw it in for good measure..! My friends loved taking photos next to it, it was really funny!

I thought these honeycomb hanging decorations in candy pastel colours were really sweet, nice touch to the room!

We set up a candy table, with every kind of sweet you could imagine! We put the sweets in little china vintage bowls which my Mum collects from charity shops and markets. In this photo you can also see the marshmallow tree; We got a cheap bucket from 'Buyology' and filled it with plaster of paris to weigh it down and hold a stick from our garden upright. On the stick we put a ball of oasis (stuff people usually use for flower arranging) ,covered it in tissue paper and stuck cocktail sticks with marshmallows on! My guests really loved it, and it was the centre piece of the candy table!

We brought these adorable popcorn baskets from Ebay, they were really inexpensive and added a little bit of retro to the table!

This is my birthday cake- because my Mum was really busy this week she just made it out of a packet, it was a red velvet cake and it was delicious!! She decorated it with my favourite colours and love heart candy! All my guests took a slice home with them.

And this is me all dressed up! I dressed up as Cinderella; I loved being a disney princess for a day! My dress is from Ebay, my tiara is from Claire's and my shoes and necklace are my Mum's.

Becca also dresed up as a disney princess; Belle. This is us together before the party!

Halfway through the party my Mum came in with her laptop and said "Ellie I have a surprise from some people who couldn't make it today." and she played a video message from my favourite band, Luminites wishing me a happy birthday! I was so surprised, it was so amazing! Thank you to the band, my Mum for organising it and Anthony, Luminites' manager! You can watch my video message here:

One of the main attractions of my party was my homemade photobooth! I made props, like the ones shown above, and made a background and my guests could take photos with my camera on a tripod! It was SO much fun!

We all danced, played on the wii, sang karaoke, posed for photos and played hilarious games like 'chubby bunnies' and 'The Strawberry Lace game'- It was so much fun, I'm so grateful for everyone who came!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Have a great week!
